If you have spare land in Niagara in need of some trees, the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) is looking for you. “Trees for All” is an initiative that sees the NPCA partner with local community groups, environmental agencies and government organizations. Landowners can apply for the grant to help Canada reach its goal of planting two billion trees.

$6M available for P.E.I. farms to help cut carbon

The P.E.I. Federation of Agriculture is now receiving applications for a federal program granting money to farmers for projects that will cut carbon emissions. The federation will be distributing $6 million in federal funding to Island farmers as part of a $182-million national program announced earlier this year. The projects can range from anything from winter cover cropping, to nitrogen management and advanced grazing management.

Saltair to receive $3.9 million for water project

The community of Saltair is receiving approximately $3.9 million in senior government funding to complete a water filtration project required to meet provincial drinking water guidelines. The funding comes from the federal and provincial government’s joint Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program’s Green Infrastructure Stream, and represents approximately 70 per cent of the total estimated $5 million cost of the water filtration project.
