To use the coliform bacteria test:

Please Note: Even with very clean hands, it is absolutely critical to avoid touching the inside of the bottle, the cap, the inside or top of the vial, or the faucet tip during sampling, as bacteria from your skin (even if very minimal) can easily lead to a false positive result. Therefore, be very careful throughout the testing procedure to not touch anything with which the water sample will come into contact.

  1. Collect the sample of the water you want to test in the vial.

  2. Pour the sample water into the vial and fill it to the shoulder of the vial.

  3. Shake the bottle forcefully for 20 seconds to dissolve the powder.

  4. After the 48-hour incubation period, observe the colour of the sample. If the sample is a yellow colour, no harmful bacteria were detected in the sample. If the sample is a green colour, it is very likely that harmful bacteria are present.
