Another water treatment plant has been hacked over its use of Israel-made equipment. It happened last week in an east coast area of Ireland called Erris. About 180 residences were without water for two days when the hackers got past the systems’ firewall and shut a small utility. Last week I reported that a hacking group believed to be from Iran called CyberAv3ngers is going after utilities using equipment from Israeli companies.

A major water main break has caused Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que., to declare a state of emergency as half the population — about 26,000 households, or 56,000 people — has been without running water for more than 48 hours. The city, about 40 kilometres southeast of Montreal, says water won't be back until at least end-of-day Thursday.

Water main break disrupts water supply, traffic in Halifax

A water main break in west-end Halifax disrupted water supply and traffic early Monday afternoon. Halifax Regional Police had asked drivers to avoid the Armdale Roundabout, where water was pooling, "making driving hazardous," the force said in a news release. Just before 4 p.m. AT, police said the roundabout had reopened to traffic. Halifax Water spokesperson Jeff Myrick said crews were working to repair the break, which occurred when a construction company hit a transmission main on Roosevelt Drive.
