Canada and Nova Scotia invest in new water and wastewater infrastructure in Kentville

Through this investment, the Town of Kentville will install new water distribution pipes, sanitary sewer collection pipes and a stormwater management system as well as replace an existing water tank and treatment plant under the future Donald E. Hiltz Connector Road, which will connect the Kentville Business Park to Prospect Avenue. This investment will increase capacity to treat and manage wastewater and stormwater while opening up new land for to build housing in Kentville.

Various levels of government have announced $10.5 million in joint funding for two wastewater and stormwater projects in the Canning region of Nova Scotia. The first project will support wastewater treatment and collection system upgrades in the Municipality of the County of Kings where the wastewater treatment facility will be improved to increase capacity and accommodate future growth, a Dec. 22 release explained.

Saltair taxpayers will pay less and receive more following the approval of a grant application for the Saltair water treatment expansion project. “I wanted to run up and down the streets knocking on everyone’s door to spread the amazing news,” noted Lynne Smith, Cowichan Valley Regional District director for Area G. An Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program – Green Infrastructure (Environmental Quality Program) grant will provide $6 million in funding.
